Inferno 4500 – Controller Rev 3 Interactive troubleshooting flow (demo – no real uploads)

1. Blank display

Display is completely blank; no message and no backlight.

  • Check if the green LED on the bottom-right of the display board is flashing. If not, reset power to the oven.
  • Measure power to the display: ~10 VAC between J3 BLK and RED on the display board.

Status for this condition:

2. Frozen / scrambled display or keypad not responding

Display shows a frozen or scrambled message and/or keypad does not respond.

  • Check communication cable between J4 on the controller and J4 on the display (GRN, RED, BLK) for loose pins or damage.
  • Check if LED (24) on the controller is flashing. If not, reset power.
  • Verify controller power: measure ~10 VAC at J13 BLK and RED on the controller.
  • Check if the green LED on the display board is flashing. If not, reset power.
  • If problem remains, perform controller reset using black reset button beside keypad (power off, hold 10s, power on).
  • On older ovens without reset button: power off, disconnect 3.6 V battery at J8, wait 10s, reconnect and power on.

3. Drive motor not turning

Rotisserie drive motor does not rotate when expected.

  • Check if LED (1) on the controller is lit when the motor should run.
  • Check fuse F3 on the controller.
  • Verify 120 VAC at outputs: BLK from J7 (controller) to WHT at terminal block.
  • Measure power to drive motor: 120 VAC between RED from J7 and WHT at terminal block.

4. Water fill valve not opening

Water solenoid valve does not open to fill the tank.

  • Check if LED (2) on the controller is lit when fill should occur.
  • Check fuse F3 on the controller.
  • Verify 120 VAC at outputs: BLK from J7 to WHT at terminal block.
  • Measure power to water valve: 120 VAC between BLU from J7 and WHT at terminal block.

5. Circulation pump not running

Circulation pump does not run during wash or rinse.

  • Check if LED (4) on the controller is lit when circulation pump should run.
  • Check fuse F3 on the controller.
  • Verify 120 VAC at outputs: BLK from J7 to WHT at terminal block.
  • Measure power to circulation pump: 120 VAC between PRP from J7 and WHT at terminal block.

6. No ignition, no Safety Lockout alarm

Burner does not ignite and there is no safety lockout alarm.

  • Check if green LED (6) on the controller is lit during ignition attempt.
  • Verify 24 VAC at J9 ORG and BRN on controller.
  • Check wiring at J9: confirm 24 VAC between BLU and BRN on controller.

7. Drain pump not running

Drain pump (board may label as drain valve) does not run.

  • Check if LED (12) on the controller is lit when drain pump should run.
  • Check fuse F2 on the controller.
  • Verify 120 VAC at outputs: BLK from J7 to WHT at terminal block.
  • Measure power to drain pump: 120 VAC between GRY-A from J7 and WHT at terminal block.

8. Oven lights not lit

Oven lights do not come on (except 5 seconds after startup or in Sleep mode after Clean).

  • Check if LED (13) on the controller is lit when lights should be on.
  • Check fuse F2 on the controller.
  • Verify 120 VAC at outputs: BLK from J7 to WHT at terminal block.
  • Measure power to lights: 120 VAC between ORG from J7 and WHT at terminal block.

9. Degreaser pump not running

Degreaser pump does not run during cleaning.

  • Check if LED (14) on the controller is lit when degreaser pump should run.
  • Check fuse F2 on the controller.
  • Verify 120 VAC at outputs: BLK from J7 to WHT at terminal block.
  • Measure power to degreaser pump: 120 VAC between YLW from J7 and WHT at terminal block.

10. Buzzer alarm not functioning

Buzzer does not sound when an alarm is expected.

  • Check if LED (16) on the controller is lit when alarm should sound.
  • Verify 24 VAC at J9 ORG and BRN on controller.
  • Check wiring at J9: confirm 24 VAC between GRY and BRN on controller.

11. Drain valve sensor not working properly

Controller does not correctly detect drain valve closed/open.

  • Check if LED (20) on controller is lit when drain valve is closed.
  • Remove male J5 connector. On female J5 at controller, jumper pins for GRY and YLW wires — LED (20) should light when jumpered.

12. Door switch not working properly

Controller does not correctly see door closed/open.

  • Check if LED (21) on controller is lit when door is closed.
  • Remove male J5 connector. On female J5 at controller, jumper pins for BRN and YLW wires — LED (21) should light when jumpered.

13. Degreaser level sensor not working properly

Controller does not correctly detect degreaser level.

  • Enter Testing Mode (see Service Testing Mode document).
  • Remove male J5 connector. On female J5 at controller, jumper pins for RED and YLW wires.
  • Display should show LEVEL GOOD with jumper in place; LEVEL LOW when removed (allow ~2 seconds delay).

14. Cooling fans not running

Cooling fans do not run when expected.

  • Check if LED (13) on controller is lit when cooling fans should run.
  • Check fuse F2 on the controller.
  • Verify 120 VAC at outputs: BLK from J7 to WHT at terminal block.
  • Measure power to fans: 120 VAC between ORG from J7 and WHT at terminal block.

15. Convection fans not running

Convection fans do not run during cooking.

  • Check if LED (15) on controller is lit when convection fans should run.
  • Check fuse F2 on the controller.
  • Verify 120 VAC at outputs: BLK from J7 to WHT at terminal block.
  • Measure power to convection fans: 120 VAC between GRY-D from J7 and WHT at terminal block.
